BANDS

Playing in bands is an important step in studying music since you learn to interact with other musicians, hear what is going on around you and react together.

I direct and play in two jazz bands, as well as conduct a wind ensemble at South Bay School of Music Arts.  The jazz combo is called Ginga; a five piece combo ( one horn and four rhythm) that plays some Latin, traditional and contemporary jazz tunes.  The larger group is the SBSMA Big Band, a eighteen piece jazz band (thirteen horns, vocalist and four rhythm) that plays swing, blues, standards, funk and latin.  We perform at Santana Row, art and wine festivals, county fairs and recently - Campbell's Big Bands & BBQ.  Most of the people performing in these bands, work or go to school during the day, and have music as a passion and hobby.
